WINONA, Minn. — Courtney Euerle (Litchfield, Minn.) entered Monday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the two-time reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athletic of the Week — earning her second straight honor earlier Monday afternoon.

And Macalester learned first-hand why the Cardinal senior has been one of the hottest — and toughest to stop — players in the conference of late.

Euerle scored 10 points, hauled down eight rebounds and added four assists — in just 18 minutes — in helping the 18th-ranked Cardinals push their winning streak to 15 in a row with a convincing 75-52 win over the Scots at the SMU Gym.

Euerle made her presence felt at both ends of the court, but the senior was just one cog in the well-oiled Cardinal machine Monday, as Shelby Auseth (Wanamingo, Minn.) netted a game-high 14 points, Darcey Rice (Eagan, Minn.) nailed four 3-pointers for 12 points, and SMU got scoring from 11 different players in improving to a league-best 15-1.

The Cardinals — who meticulously built their lead to as many as 20 in the first half — shot 52 percent from the field in the game's opening 20 minutes, draining 15 of 29 field goals — including five 3-pointers en route to a 19-point, 38-19 halftime advantage.

SMU's smothering defense, meanwhile, limited the Scots to just six first-half field goals — including a trio of 3-pointers from Erin Murray, who scored 11 of the team's 19 first-half points.

Saint Mary's would push their lead to as many as 31 in the second half in coasting to the win — a victory that locked up an MIAC Tournament berth for the Cardinals for the third straight season.

The Cardinals, who improved to 18-1 overall with their 15th straight win — SMU's longest win streak since opening the 1985-86 season with 19 consecutive victories — hit the road on Wednesday, traveling to Northfield, Minn., for a 7:30 p.m. MIAC game against Carleton.
