January 5, 2013: The Cardinals made sure this year's first meeting between the two teams would not end the way last year's did — in other words, decided by a single point — as SMU scored 10 of the first 12 points to start the second half, and never looked back in cruising to a 50-36 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory at West Gym in Northfield, Minn.
February 2, 2013: If SMU coach Mandy Pearson was concerned about her team looking past Carleton and ahead to its showdown a day later against league-leading Concordia, the Cardinals quickly put those fears to rest. SMU opened the game with a Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.) basket and promptly built their lead to 15 at the half in rolling to a 57-46 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Knights at the SMU Gym.
