Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After being stretched to the maximum five sets in their first match of the Colorado College Classic Friday, the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota volleyball team was determined to take a much quicker approach to their second match of the day against Tufts.
Mission accomplished.
The Cardinals made quick work of the Jumbos, posting their fourth 3-0 sweep of the season with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 victory — and a perfect run through Day 1 of the two-day tournament.
Alex Peterson (Harmony, Minn.) led the Cardinals' offensive attack, collecting 11 kills, while
Macki Fadness (Eau Claire, Wis.) and
Molly Grover (Zumbrota, Minn.) chipped in seven and five kills, respectively.
Tayler MacVey (Dodge Center, Minn.) and
Brittney Hanson (Janesville, Iowa) once again split the setting detail, dishing out 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
Lex Krogstad (Chicago, Ill.) tallied a team-best 10 digs, and Peterson notched a team-high three service aces.
Hayley Hopper finished with 11 kills and Frances Brumley chipped in 15 assists in the losing effort for Tufts (0-1 overall).
The Cardinals (5-1 overall) are back in action on Saturday, when they square off against seventh-ranked Colorado College and 17th-ranked Clarkson.
