Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota volleyball team got a first-hand look at one of the top Division III programs in the country Saturday afternoon during the second day of the Colorado College Classic.
Colorado College not only entered Saturday's showdown against Saint Mary's ranked No. 7 in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll — the Tigers were also unbeaten in their first six matches of the season.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Tigers' unblemished record remained in tact.
Colorado College boasted three players with 10 or more kills, as the seventh-ranked Tigers outlasted the Cardinals 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 21-25, 25-20).
Molly Grover (Zumbrota, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals against Colorado College, as the senior outside hitter delivered a team-best 14 kills and hit .321.
Brittney Hanson and
Tayler MacVey collected 17 and 16 assists, respectively, and each chipped in two service aces, while
Lex Krogstad (Chicago, Ill.) posted a team-best 21 digs.
Courtney Birkett banged out a match-high 17 kills, while Abbe Holtze added 16 and Kristen Liberty chipped in 12 for Colorado College.
The Cardinals (5-2 overall) close out their two-day appearance at the Colorado College Classic with a 3 p.m. Saturday match against 17th-ranked Clarkson.
