ST. PAUL, Minn.  — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's basketball team hits the road on Wednesday, traveling to Hamline's Hutton Arena for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against the Pipers.

January 15, 2014: Just two days after draining a team- and career-high 18 points against Carleton, Saint Mary's Ronnie Ortiz was at it again Wednesday evening, as the freshman led the Cardinals in scoring for the second straight game. The Cardinals' game against Martin Luther was the first of back-to-back Monday nonconference games for Saint Mary's, which travels to Chicago, Ill., for a showdown with Illinois Institute of Technology next Monday. … The Cardinals' 10-point, 83-73 win over Martin Luther snapped their six-game losing streak. … The Cardinals' 70-67 win over Hamline in the teams' first meeting on Dec. 3 snapped their eight-game losing streak vs. the Pipers, dating back to a 98-77 win on Feb. 10, 2010. … The win over Hamline was also the Cardinals' first season-opening victory since beating Crown 78-57 to kick off the 2010-11 season. … Will Swiggum (St. Charles, Minn.) equaled his career high with 24 points against the Knights on Monday, while Connor Kaiser (Rockland, Wis.) chipped in a career-best 22 points. … The efforts by Swiggum and Kaiser marked the first time this season Saint Mary's has boasted two players scoring 20 or more points in the same game.
