Seniors take center stage in season-ending win

WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's soccer team closed out its 2015 schedule in impressive fashion—and this year's graduating class led the charge.

Saint Mary's scored three goals—all coming from players playing their final collegiate games in a Cardinal uniform—in cruising to a 3-0 nonconference win over Finlandia Sunday afternoon at Ochrymowycz Field.

Ryan Geidner (Antioch, Ill.) got Senior Scoring Show off and running 10 minutes into the opening half, taking a feed from fellow senior Cody Balogh (Batavia, Ill.) and beating Finlandia goalie Matthew Van Horn.

Nineteen minutes later, Fernando Camacho (Chicago, Ill.) got into the act, netting an unassisted tally to give the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Joe Bosco (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) rounded out the scoring for Saint Mary's, recording his second goal of the season with 28 minutes remaining in regulation.

Not to be outdone by his senior teammates, goalkeeper Evan Claffy (Joliet, Ill.) stopped all seven shots he faced in his final collegiate start en route to his fourth shutout of the season.

With the win, the Cardinals closed out the season 6-9-3 overall, while Finlandia dropped to 11-6-0.
