WINONA, Minn. — If the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota volleyball team was feeling any ill effects from its first loss of the season—a 3-0 setback at the hands of nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point earlier in the day—they certainly didn't show it in their second match of the day against Luther.
In fact, it might be safe to say the Cardinals took out their frustrations on the Norse.
The Cardinals completed a 3-1 showing at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic, jumping out to a dominating 25-12 win in the opening set, before adding 25-21 and 25-20 victories en route to a 3-0 victory over Luther.
Macki Fadness (Eau Claire, Wis.) led the way for the Cardinals, collecting 12 kills, while
Jenna Sullivan (Woodbury, Minn.) added 10 kills and 12 digs.
Lex Krogstad (Chicago, Ill.) finished with 12 digs, and
Tayler MacVey (Dodge Center, Minn.) and
Brittney Hanson (Janesville, Iowa) dished out 22 and 20 assists, respectively.
Saint Mary's heads to Dubuque, Iowa, next weekend to take part in the Loras Invitational. Saint Mary's will face UW-Platteville and Loras on Friday, before taking on Wheaton (Ill.) and UW-Stout on Saturday.
