Brandi Blattner (Eyota, Minn.) has enjoyed a stellar season for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's basketball team.
And it has not gone unnoticed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
In fact, Blattner collected her second MIAC Athlete of the Week honor on Monday, after averaging a double-double in leading the Cardinals to back-to-back victories over Hamline and Macalester.
Her efforts last week, however, spanned more than just the MIAC, as Blattner was named to the D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Blattner joined Cassidy Burkholder of Bridgewater (Va.), Kaitlyn Read of NYU, Sydney Moss of Thomas More, and Jordan Holmes of Dennison on the five-person D3hoops.com team.
Blattner kicked off the week with a 12-point, 13-rebound effort in the Cardinals' 70-55 win over Hamline last Wednesday, before notching her second double-double of the week—and seventh of the season—with 26 points and 12 rebounds in Saint Mary's 81-56 win over Macalester three days later.
Blattner, who has posted 10 or more rebounds in seven straight games—and 10 times this season—finished the week shooting 44 percent from the field (14-for-32), including knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, and was 8-for-10 from the free throw line.
For the year, Blattner—whose 26-point showing against Macalester was one point shy of her collegiate best—leads the team in scoring with a 16.2 ppg average, while her 173 rebounds (10.3 rpg) not only lead the team, but also the entire MIAC.
Blattner and the league-leading Cardinals (9-1 MIAC, 15-2 overall) are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Augsburg in a 7 p.m. conference contest at the Saint Mary's Gym.
