RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's track and field teams are back on the road again on Saturday, heading to UW-River Falls to take part in the Falcon Winter Classic.

Clare Siska posted a time of 1:04.36 in winning the 400 to pace the Cardinal women at the UW-Stout Open last Saturday. … Other top finishes for the Cardinals included:
Becca Dup hipped in a second-place time of 8.31 in the 60, while
Kynzie Smedsrud (60 hurdles, 10.57),
Erika Thiel (mile, 5:59.14), and
Alicia Berkenes (800, 2:36.73) all posted fourth-place finishes.
Allie Thiel added a sixth in the mile (6:04.61), with
Maria Missurelli chipping in an eighth in the pole vault (2.65 meters) and Smedsrud tallying a ninth in the 200 (28.75). … The 4x200 relay led the way for the Saint Mary's men at UW-Stout last weekend, as
James Davis,
Morris Dennis,
Ross Kinderman, and
Desmond Steward won the event with a time of 1:34.95. … Other men's highlights included:
Bryan Ortman had another busy day, placing second in the triple jump (6.12) and eighth in the long jump (6.10 meter), while
Austin O'Hare added a third in the mile (4:40.51), and
Brandon Krogman (800, 2:08.43) and
Jase Pater (3,000, 9:37.30) recorded fourth-place times. Steward led the Cardinal long jumpers, placing fifth with a leap of 6.18 meters, while
Jacob Hagen-Erickson was seventh in the event with a mark of 6.12 meters. Davis posted a seventh-place time of 7.31 in the 60 and
Joe Gardner was eighth in the 60 hurdles (9.23). … Ortman won both the long and triple jumps for the second straight year at the Cardinal Early Birdinal on Jan. 16. … Ortman's 13.68-meter effort in the triple jump at the Cardinal Early Birdinal is the top performance to date in the MIAC. … Dennis became coach
Niels Anderson's first national qualifier a year ago, earning a spot in the 400 at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor National Championships. … The Cardinals broke six school records at the 2015 MIAC Indoor Championships, and added four more at the conference's outdoor championships.
