Day 2 Recap The Cardinals at Luther Sprint Invitational—Their Last Appearance:• January 10, 2015 * Decorah, Iowa: Saint Mary's got back into the competitive spirit, kicking off the 2015 portion of their schedule at the non-team-scored Luther Sprint Invitational.
Joe Tonda (St. Paul, Minn.) paced the Cardinal men, clocking a time of 30.83 to place eighth in 50 breaststroke and touching the wall in 1:09.21 to finish 10th in the 100 breaststroke. On the women's side,
Grace VanBeest (Flossmoor, Ill.) posted a fourth-place finish in the 50 breaststroke, stopping the clock in 34:35, while

Grace VanBeest (Flossmoor, Ill.) stole the show with a pair of record-setting performances. Van Beest broke the school mark in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.39, while adding a school-record showing in the 200 breaststroke a day later, touching the wall in 2:32.49. … VanBeest also shaved 18 seconds off her season-best in the 400 IM, clocking a time of 5:11.19. … Other women's highlights from Day 1 of the Jean Freeman Invitational:
Christina Weldai (London, England) added a 27.46 in the 50 freestyle and a 2:16.75 in the 200 freestyle, while
Chloe Morrison (Ashkum, Ill.) posted a career-best 6:21.13 in the 500 freestyle,
Reese Galewski (Winona, Minn.) chipped in a time of 2:42.96 in the 200 butterfly, and
Sarah Fanning (Sparta, Wis.) and
Caroline Hoffmann (Chicago, Ill.) added times of 28.41 and 28:71, respectively, in the 50 freestyle. … Day 2 women's highlights included: Galewski recorded a 1:09.25 in the 100 backstroke and added a 1:05.31 in the 100 butterfly, while Weldai touched the wall in 1:00.54 in the 100 freestyle, and

Andrew Eggersgluss (Mound, Minn.) chipped in a time of 2:16.82 in the 200 backstroke—by far his best showing of the season—during the opening day of the two-day Jean Freeman Invitational.
Lucas Rukavina (Winona, Minn.) led a quartet of swimmers in the 50 freestyle, clocking a time of 23.33.
P.J. Heller (St. Cloud, Minn.) chipped in a 24.26, followed by Mockler and Nick Sawchuk (Rochester, Minn. / 25.24). Rukavina also clocked a time of 1:53.51 in the 200 freestyle. Lucas Gerards (St. Cloud, Minn.) also added a time of 2:18.68 in the 200 butterfly. … Day 2 men's highlights included: Tonda clocked a season-best time of 59.10 in the 100 backstroke, before shaving four seconds off his top time in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.63.
Lucas Rukavina (Winona, Minn.), meanwhile, chipped in a 51.60 in the 100 freestyle and a 57.37 in the 100 butterfly.
