Cardinals drop 1-0 MIAC decision to Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. — When the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and Hamline women's soccer team met a year ago, the game hinged on the first and last 12 minutes.

Hamline found the back of the net before the game was even 12 minutes old, while the Cardinals waited until the game's final 12 minutes before scoring—twice—in dealing the Pipers a 2-1 setback.

Fast-forward to Saturday.

Same two teams, far different outcome.

The Pipers scored the game's only goal 36 minutes into the opening half, as Hamline handed the Cardinals a 1-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback at Patterson Field.

Gabriella Pederson (Chaska, Minn.) finished with a career-high 10 saves for the Cardinals, while Hamline's Amy Ramiras stopped all five shots in recording the shutout.

The Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday, hosting Macalester in a 7:30 p.m. conference game at Ochrymowycz Field.
