• The Cardinals collected three top-10 performances at last Saturday's UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational. … Jovan Newsum had the race of the day for the Cardinal men at UW-L, blowing away the rest of the 42-man field in winning the 5,000 with a time of 15:07.74. … Morris Dennis—the reigning MIAC Outdoor champion and NCAA national qualifier in the 400—collected a third-place showing in the event last Saturday, clocking a time of 48.61, before adding a fifth-place time of 22.47 in the 200. … Maria Missurelli cleared 3.40 meters en route to her sixth-place showing in the pole vault. … Other men's highlights at last Saturday's Ashton May Invitational included: Bryan Ortman placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters, while other top performances included Jacob Hagen-Erickson in the long jump (6.05m), Brandon Krogman in the 800 (2:01.23) in the 800, Ryan Buchmeier in the triple jump (10.72m), Joe Gardner in the 110 hurdles (17.21), James Davis in the 100 (11.38), Austin O'Hare in the 1,500 (4:08.04), and Phil Emmerich in the discus (31.91m). … Along with Missurelli's effort in the pole vault, other top showings for the Cardinal women last weekened included Becca Dup in the long jump (4.99m), Madeline Eichers in the hammer (36.95m) and shot put (9.55m), Kierra Walske in the shot put (9.36m), Kynzie Smedsrud in the 100 hurdles (17.59), Alicia Berkenes (5:20.39) and Allie Thiel (5:20.44) in the 1,500, Erica Thiel in the 5,000 (20:13.88), and Clare Siska in the 400 (1:15.03). … The Cardinals boasted a pair of all-conference performers at the MIAC Indoor Championships in March. Dennis shattered his own school record in the 400, for the second time this year, placing third with a time of 49.46—four-tenths of a second faster than his previous school mark. Missurelli, meanwhile, broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters to place second. … Ortman earned honorable-mention all-conference honors in both the triple jump and the long jump, placing fourth and sixth, respectively. … Davis and Brandon Krogman also collected honorable-mention All-MIAC honors at the indoor championships, with Davis placing fourth in the 200 and Krogman adding a sixth in the 600. … Davis set the school record in the indoor 200 at the UW-Stevens Point Big Dawg Invitational, stopping the clock in 22.71, while Krogman became the new school record-holder in the 800, breaking the tape in 1:58.74. … Competing in her first MIAC Indoor Championships, Dup earned honorable-mention all-conference honors with a sixth-place showing in the long jump. … Dennis became coach Niels Anderson's first national qualifier, as the then-freshman earned a spot in the 400 at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
