• The Cardinals broke five school records last weekend, two at the St. Thomas Showcase and three more at the UW-Superior Border Battle. … Jovan Newsum posted his second school record-setting performance of the season at the UW-Superior Border Battle, breaking the school record in the 5,000 with a time of 15:04.16. Two weeks ago, at the UW-Stout Warren Bowlus Invitational Newsum broke the school record in the 3,000, stopping the clock in 8:45.92—nearly three seconds faster than his previous school mark, set a year ago. … Brandon Krogman posted a pair of school record-setting showings in a 24-hour span last weekend, breaking the school mark in the 600 (1:23.19) at the St. Thomas Showcase last Friday, before adding a school-record time of 1:58.27 in the 800 at the UW-Superior Border Battle. … Kyle Lichttenegger and Becca Dup also got into the record-setting act, with Lichttenegger breaking the school's 19-year-old record in the 60 (7.03), while Dup broke her own school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.53 meters. … Dup has won the long jump in each of the Cardinals' last three competitions. … Lichttenegger's time in the 60 is the fastest recorded by an MIAC runner this season. … Along with the pair of first-place efforts—Dup in the long jump and Molly Sweet in the 1,000 (3:13.61), the Saint Mary's women also got second-place performances from Maria Missurelli in the pole vault (3.15 meters), Bailey Joens in the high jump (1.56 meters), and Kynzie Smedsrud in the 200 hurdles (31.94) at last weekend's UW-Superior Border Battle. … Natalie King posted a throw of 14.34 meters to place third in the weight throw, Danielle Franke clocked a third-place time of 11.10.82, and Madison Gueningsman was third in the 200 hurdles (32.31). … Ben Borash and Dean Marlin each chipped in fourth-place finishes for the Cardinal men at the UW-Superior Border Battle— Borash's in the 1,000 (2:42.28) and Marlin's in the triple jump (11.79 meters).
