ST. PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's track and field teams are back in action Saturday, traveling to Gustavus to take part in the Lee Krough Invitational.

• April 8, 2017 * La Crosse, Wis.: For the second straight week, Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.) stole the show for the Cardinals, as the sophomore shattered pair of school records to lead the Cardinal women to an 11th-place team finish. Dup won the triple jump with a leap of 11.70 meters, while placing fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.49 meters. Not to be outdone, Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.) also came home with an event title, as the senior clocked a time of 15:21.04 to easily outrun the rest of the field to pace the Saint Mary's men's 10th-place team showing | Recap
 
Cardinals At Gustavus Lee Krough Invitational—Their Last Appearance:
• April 16, 2016: * St. Peter, Minn.: Maria Missurelli (Franklin, Minn.) and Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.) took center stage for the Cardinal women, as Missurelli cleared 3.39 meters in tying for the top spot in the pole vault and Dup placed second in the long jump with a 5.25m effort, while Morris Dennis placed second in the 200 with a time of 22.46, Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) finished second in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:00.59), and Jacob Hagen-Erickson (Austin, Minn.) uncorked a leap of 6.48 meters to lead a 2-3 finish in the long jump to pace the Cardinal men | Recap

Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.) broke the school record in the long jump for the second straight week last Saturday at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational, posting a mark of 5.49 meters. … Dup also set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 11.70 meters. Dup's triple jump effort was not only a school record, but also the fifth-longest triple jump in NCAA Division III this season. … Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.)—who smashed the school's 19-year-old record in the 3,000 with a time of 8:57.35 at the Dingels/Brueggen Open on April 2—posted a first-place time of 15:21.04 in the 5,000 at the UW-L Ashton May Invitational last Saturday. … Kyle Lichttenegger (DePere, Wis.) recorded a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.51 meters at the UW-L Ashton May Invitational last weekend, while Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) and Ross Kinderman (Onalaska, Wis.) also posted top-five finishes—O'Hare stopped the clock in 9:39.04 to place third in the 3,000 steeplechase, and Kinderman uncorked a throw of 45.71 meters to place fourth in the javelin. … Other top performers for the Cardinals at the UW-L Ashton May Invitational last weekend: Desmond Steward (Bayside, Wis.) chipped in a pair of seventh-place efforts in both the long jump (6.39m) and the triple jump (13.62m), while Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) notched an eighth in the 5,000 (19:25.55), Maria Missurelli (Franklin, Wis.) finished eighth in pole vault (3.25m), and Natalie King (Houston, Minn.) was 13th in the hammer throw (43.05m). … The Cardinals kicked off the outdoor season in style on April 2, posting six first-place finishes and recording three new school records at the Dingels/Brueggen Open. … David Kemper shattered the school's 12-year-old pole vault record, clearing 4.60 meters at the Dingels/Brueggen Open on April 2. … The Cardinals enjoyed a banner indoor season, setting 20 Top 5 all-time performances—13 for the men and seven for the women. … Saint Mary's also posted seven indoor school records. On the women's side, records fell in the 60 (Dup, 8.03) and long jump (Dup, 5.53m), while on the men's side, new records were set in the 60 (Lichttenegger, 7.03), 600 (Brandon Krogman, 1:23.19), 800 (Krogman, 1:55.62), 3,000 (Newsum, 8:45.92) and 5,000 (Newsum, 15:04.16). … Dup won the long jump at the indoor season-ending conference championships, posting a jump of 5.43 meters. … Newsum, Krogman, and Steward also posted top-three finishes at the indoor conference championships—Steward finished second in the triple jump (13.78m), while Newsum placed third in the 5,000 (15:28.49) and Krogman was third in the 800 (1:55.86). … Missurelli enters the outdoor season having placed second in the pole vault at the MIAC Outdoor Championships in each of her first two seasons as a Cardinal.
