LA CROSSE, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's track and field teams are back in action Friday, traveling to UW-La Crosse to take part in the UW-L Phil Esten Challenge.

Desmond Steward put together Saint Mary's best performance of the afternoon at the Gustavus Lee Krough Invitational, winning the triple jump with a leap of 13.36 meters. And that was just the beginning for Steward, who finished the afternoon with three top-10 finishes, adding a third in the long jump and a sixth in the high jump.

Morris Dennis (Elk River, Minn.)—an NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships qualifier in the 400 a year ago—was in top form at the Phil Esten Challenge, as the Cardinal sophomore outdueled the rest of the field in winning the 400 in a time of 48.22.
