WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team got its 2017 season off on the right foot Friday, as the Cardinals knocked off Macalester 324-343 in the annual MacMary Dual at The Bridges.
Hunter Rau (Plainview, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals, recording a seven-over-par 78 on the par-71 Bridges layout.
Owen Blakely (Elmhurst, Ill.),
Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Columbia) and
Bobby McNaney (Mendota Heights, Minn.) all chipped in 82s, while
Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) added an 83.
There were plenty of low numbers among the Cardinals playing as individuals, as led by
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.), who shot a team-low 74.
Tyler Dove (Hudson, Wis.) notched a seven-over 78 in his first collegiate golf meet, followed by
Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta / 80),
Blair Sanders (Lee's Summit, Mo. / 81),
Johnny Morales (Torrence, Calif. / 83),
Carter Bernier (Downer's Grove, Ill. / 85),
Jack Andrews (White Bear Lake, Minn. / 87), and
Jake Emeott (Chisago City, Minn. / 92).
Jack Baun had the low round for Macalester, shooting a five-over 76.
The Cardinals are right back in action on Saturday and Sunday, taking part in the 36-hole Augsburg Invitational at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn.
