GALENA, Ill. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team hits the links this Friday and Saturday, heading to Eagle Ridge Resort for the 36-hole Midwest Region Classic, hosted by Benedictine (Ill.) University.

Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta), who missed the first two tournaments of the season with an injury, made a two-word statement during the 36-hole Midwest Region Classic: "I'm back." Jackson, one of the Cardinals' top golfers a year ago, was in prime form this weekend, carding rounds of three-over-par 75 and two-over 74 for a 149 total and an eighth-place individual finish. Tyler Dove (Hudson, Wis.) enjoyed his best weekend as a Cardinal at the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament last weekend, as the freshman carded a career-low four-over-par 76 during the opening round and followed that up with a seven-over 79 the following day for a team-best 155 36-hole total. … In five collegiate rounds this season, Dove has recorded four rounds of 79 or better, with an 80 accounting for the fifth round. …
Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta) equaled Dove's season-best 76 during the first round of the Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament last Friday, while
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) added two rounds in the 70s—78 in the opening round and 79 in the second—while
Bobby McNaney (Mendota Heights, Minn.) chipped in a first-round 77. …
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.), competing as an individual at the Augsburg Invitational on Sept. 2-3, fired a second-round two-over 74. It was the second time in the season's first three rounds that the Cardinal sophomore notched a career-best two-over 74. … Galewski enters this weekend's 36-hole Midwest Classic owning a team-best 77.6 scoring average, while Dove is second at 78.4. … The Cardinals, who finished with 39 rounds of 79 or better a year ago, have already posted 15 rounds under 80 this season. … Saint Mary's opening-round 307 at this year's Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament was a season low. A year ago, the Cardinals shot a second-day 297 at the same tournament, tying the program's single-day school record. … The Cardinals kicked off the season with a victory over Macalester in the annual MacMary Dual, held at the Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn. The Cardinals have now beaten the Scots in each of the last two MacMary Duals. Saint Mary's snapped an eight-year Scots' winning streak with a victory a year ago.
