MIAC Athletes of the Week (9.25.17)

WINONA, Minn. — Clare Tack (St. Charles, Ill.) was a force to be reckoned with for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota volleyball team during its two matches last week.

In fact, it's safe to say the senior libero was the Cardinals' digging machine in conference matches against Augsburg and St. Catherine—recording a team-leading 59 digs, while also adding three assists and one service ace as Saint Mary's went 1-1 in its two conference matches.

And her efforts did not go unnoticed, as Tack was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Setter/Libero of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Tack opened the week with a 21-dig effort in the Cardinals' 3-1 loss to Augsburg last Wednesday, before adding a match-, season- and career-high 38 digs in a 3-2 win over St. Catherine. Her 38 digs vs. the Wildcats were the most in a match since Theresa Perrini recorded 41 against Augsburg on Oct. 24, 2008.

Tack heads into this weekend's conference home matches against Saint Benedict and Concordia owning a team-leading 258 digs through 16 matches. The senior has recorded 20 or more digs in each of her last five matches—and six times this season—while also chipping in 36 assists and 18 service aces.

The Cardinals (2-1 MIAC, 11-5 overall) host Saint Benedict in a 7 p.m. MIAC matchup on Friday, before squaring off against Concordia at 3 p.m. the following day, with both matches at the Saint Mary's Gym.
