JORDAN, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's golf team closes out its season beginning Saturday, taking part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Ridges at Sand Creek.

Saint Mary's At 2016 MIAC Championships:
• October 8-9-10, 2016 * Bunker Hills Golf Course * Coon Rapids, Minn.: For the second day in a row, David Iten (Fridley, Minn.) and Hunter Rau (Rushford, Minn.) led the way for Saint Mary's at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. 2016 MIAC Championships Recap:
• Saint John's played outstanding golf over the final 36 holes to pull away from a crowded field and capture the 2016 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Golf Championship. The Johnnies put the finishing touches on their title by shooting a final-round 297 to win by 18 shots. The Johnnies' 54-hole tournament total of 879 is the second-best score in MIAC Championship history, only two shots off the all-time record of 877, also set by SJU in 2006. The MIAC championship is the 12th in program history for Saint John's, the first since 2013 and the eighth since 2004. Johnnie fans had plenty to cheer about on the individual leader board as well, as SJU's Sam Olson captured individual medalist honors, finishing with a 54-hole total of 215 (-1) and a two-shot win over teammate Ryan Gallagher | Day 1 Recap * Day 2 Recap * Day 3 Recap

• The Cardinals head into the season-ending MIAC Championships on the heels of their two best 18-hole performances of the season. Saint Mary's shot a season-best round of 302 during the opening day of the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational last Sunday, and followed that up with its second-best round of the season, a 303, to place second in the 16-team field. … Saint Mary's opening-round 302 at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational was just five shots shy of the single-round school record, set at the Tim Kopka Invitational a year ago. … The Cardinals, who finished with 39 rounds of 79 or better a year ago, boasted 11 rounds under 80 at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational—giving Saint Mary's 31 rounds under 80 this season. … Hunter Rau (Plainview, Minn.) shot his lowest two collegiate rounds at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on Sept. 24-25, posting an opening-day one-over-par 73, and following that up with a two-over 74 for a 147 36-hole and a sixth-place individual finish. … Bobby McNaney (Mendota Heights, Minn.)—one of three Cardinals playing as Individuals at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational—notched a career-best one-over 73 during the second round, while Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.), Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta), and Blair Sanders (Lee's Summit, Mo.) all recorded season-best second-round 74s. … Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) enjoyed a career weekend at the Midwest Region Classic on Sept. 15-16, as the sophomore carded a career-low one-over-par 73 during the opening round of the 36-hole event. Galewski followed up that 73 with a second-day five-over 77 for a 150 total and a tie for fourth individually. … Galewski added rounds of 78-81—159, giving the sophomore rounds of 79 or better in seven of his nine competitive rounds this season. … Galewski's opening-day 73 at the Midwest Classic on Sept. 15 was one shot better than his previous collegiate best—having carded 74s at the MacMary Dual and in the second round of the Augsburg Invitational. … Tyler Dove (Hudson, Wis.) enjoyed his best weekend as a Cardinal at the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament on Sept. 8-9, as the freshman carded a career-low four-over-par 76 during the opening round and followed that up with a seven-over 79 the following day for a team-best 155 36-hole total. … In nine collegiate rounds this season, Dove has recorded five rounds of 79 or better. … Rau enters this weekend's 54-hole MIAC Championships boasting a team-best 76.8 scoring average, with Galewski / 77.4), Jackson (78.5), and Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia / 79.8) close behind. … The Cardinals kicked off  the season with a victory over Macalester in the annual MacMary Dual, held at the Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn. The Cardinals have now beaten the Scots in each of the last two MacMary Duals. Saint Mary's snapped an eight-year Scots' winning streak with a victory a year ago.
