Saint Mary's vs. Gustavus—A Year Ago:
• December 10, 2016 * Winona, Minn.: Three days after falling to league-leading Bethel, the Cardinals were back on their home court, this time squaring off against Gustavus, a team that was riding a season-opening eight-game winning streak—with all eight wins by double figures, including six victories by 20 or more points. There would be no ninth straight double-figure win. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, there would be a ninth consecutive win, however, as the Gusties used a 10-7 run over the game's final 10 minutes in dealing Saint Mary's a 49-45 conference setback at the Saint Mary's Gym | Recap
• January 28, 2017 * St. Peter, Minn.: The Cardinals and Gusties were back for Round 2, and one thing was unchanged—the Gusties had still not been beaten, taking an 18-game season-opening winning streak into the teams' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rematch. And, unfortunately for coach Brent Pollari, his Cardinals did not fare any better this time around, as Gustavus made Saint Mary's its 19th straight victim with a 71-44 victory at Gus Young Court | Recap
