DECORAH, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's and women's swimming and diving teams return from the Christmas break on Saturday, as the Cardinals head to Luther to compete in the Norse Sprints.

The Cardinals at Norse Sprints—Their Last Appearance:
• January 14, 2017 * Decorah, Iowa:  It's a good thing Joe Tonda (St. Paul, Minn.), Lucas Gerads (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Zoe Schaetz (Winona, Minn.) got a little rest in over the semester break, because it was all work—and no play—when they took to the pool at the Luther Sprints. Tonda competed in four events—posting three top-10 finishes, while Gerads chipped in a pair of top 10s in his three events, and Schaetz posted the Cardinal women's top finishes in the three events she competed in during the non-team-scored event | Recap

• Abby Hauser (Waukesha, Wis.)—a member of the recording-setting 800 freestyle relay team during the first day of the three-day Rochester Invitational on Dec. 1—collected her second and third school records during the final day of the meet on Dec. 3, clocking a school-record time of 2:17.86 in the 200 IM to place 21^st, while leading off the 400 freestyle relay with a record-setting 100 time of 56.51. … The freshman quartet of Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.), Alexis Holliday (South Milwaukee, Wis.), Alyssa Haram (Maple Grove, Minn.), and Hauser shattered the Saint Mary's women's 800 freestyle relay record during the opening day of the Rochester Invitational on Dec. 1, touching the wall in 8:32.71, easily breaking the old school mark of 8:37.08, set in 1999. … The Cardinals qualified for the finals in 11 events during the three-day Rochester Invitational on Dec. 1-3.
