JORDAN, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team closes out its season beginning Saturday, taking part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Ridges at Sand Creek.

2017 MIAC Championships Recap:
• St. Thomas jumped out to an early lead with a five-under-par Day 1 and never looked back, securing its 10th MIAC crown — and first since 2011. Saint John's rallied on the third day to take second, pulling within six strokes of St. Thomas with a total of 894 points. • Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) enters his final MIAC Championships playing the best golf of his collegiate career — including rounds of 76-73—149 in placing tied for 11th in the 79-player field at last weekend's Saint John's Invitational. … Brodt has recorded scores of 78 or better in seven of the eight competitive rounds he's place this season — including a pair of season-best 73s. … Joe Abdo (Edina, Minn.) heads into his first collegiate MIAC Championships sitting second to Brodt in scoring average at 77.30. He has posted seven rounds of 79 or better in nine competitive rounds — including a one-under-par 71 during the opening round of the Augsburg Invitational on Sept. 1. … Abdo's one-under-par 71 is the Cardinals' low round to date, and the first sub-par round since Dove carded a three-under-par 69 during the third round of the 2017 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. … Dove's third-round three-under 69 was the Cardinals' low round of the season a year ago and just one shot off the single-round school record. … Dove delivered his 2018 season-best, a four-over 75, during Day 2 at the Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament on Sept. 8. … Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) carded a four-over-par 76 to lead the way for the Cardinals against Macalester in the Mac/Mary Dual on Aug. 31. …  Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.), coming off rounds of 81-77—158 at last weekend's Saint John's Invitational, heads into the weekend with a 79.91 scoring average, followed by Dove (80.89) and Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia / 81.89). … Galewski posted a season-low 76 during the opening round of the Midwest Region Classic on Sept. 14. … Alex Kren (Neillsville, Wis.), playing as an individual, posted a career-best five-over 77 during the second round of the Augsburg Invitational on Sept. 8. … As a team, the Cardinals posted a season-low 313 (25-over) during the opening round of the Augsburg Invitational, while adding 27-over 315s at the Augsburg Invitational and the Midwest Regional. … The Cardinals have recorded 27 rounds of 79 or better this season. … With their 12-shot win over Macalester in the season-opening Mac/Mary Dual on Aug. 31, the Cardinals have now beaten the Scots in each of the last three duals. … The Cardinals' 313.5 scoring average last season was a single-season school record, four shots better than the previous mark, set in 1995. … Saint Mary's seventh-place finish at the 2017 MIAC Championships was its best showing since placing fifth during the 2008 season.
