WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams were back in action — and back in their home pool — Friday evening.

And for the second straight meet, the Cardinals gave their home faithful plenty to cheer about in their duals against St. Norbert.

Brooke Shefchik led the way for the Cardinal women against the Green Knights with a first-place showing in the 1,000 freestyle, stopping the clock in 11:41.46 — the third-fastest time in program history.

Griffin Rades and Alex Morrow each picked up a pair of first-place showings — Morrow in the 1,000 freestyle (11:20.36) and 500 freestyle (5:30.26), and Rades in the 200 IM (2:08:16) and the 100 backstroke (57.97) — to lead the Cardinal men,

Ashlyn Seifert added a first in the 200 freestyle (2:07.33), while Katie Betz (50 freestyle) chipped in a 27.78 and Kierra Walske delivered a showing of 1:68.72 to win the one-meter diving and the relay team of Amanda Hansen, Erica Camarato, Emme Quandt, and Beitz added a winning time of 2:06.86 in the 200 medley relay.

On the men's side, Jack Wells added a first in the one-meter diving (148.73) and Cole Stepanovich delivered a winning time of 57.70 in the 100 butterfly (57.70).

The Cardinals are right back in action on Saturday, heading to St. Paul, Minn., to take part in the Hamline Invitational.
