GREEN BAY, Wis. — It took a little while for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis team to get warmed up, but once they did, St. Norbert didn't stand a chance.
The Cardinals came from behind to win all three doubles matches and added straight-set wins in all six singles matches in dropping the Green Knights 9-0.
"We started off a bit slow - trailing early in all three doubles matches," said Saint Mary's coach
Jeff Halberg. "But once we got going, we played really well. This was a great way to go in to Easter break."
The Cardinals grabbed a hard-earned 3-0 lead after doubles play, picking up 8-5, 8-5, and 9–7 victories.
Saint Mary's made it look much easier in singles, winning all 12 sets — including a 6/0, 6-0 win by
Robbie Sobczak at No. 4.
The Cardinals (6-10 overall) are now off until April 14, when they travel to Northfield, Minn., for a 1 p.m. MIAC match against St. Olaf.
