WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's tennis team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday, as the Cardinals entertain St. Thomas in a 6 p.m. matchup at the Winona Tennis Center.

Saint Mary's vs. St. Thomas—A Year Ago:
• February 5, 2017 * Minneapolis, Minn.: For the second time in as many conference matches this season, Saint Mary's squared off against one of the top teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. • Friday's match against Saint Mary's is the second straight road match for the Tommies. … After opening the season with back-to-back 9-0 wins over St. Norbert and Milwaukee School of Engineering, the Tommies' have dropped three straight matches—all conference tiles. UST fell to Concordia 5-4, before falling to Macalester (7-2) and Carleton (9-0). … Zach LeVene enters Friday's showdown with Saint Mary's owning a team-best four singles wins, one more than Erich Nuss and Nick Vossen. … LeVene is 1-1 at No. 5 singles, while going a perfect 3-0 at No. 6.  The Tommies' have had the same four players in the top four spots in each of their first five matches—Ben Wait (2-3, No. 1), Sterling Sibley (2-3, No. 2), Vossen (3-2, No. 3), and Nuss (3-2, No. 4). … The doubles teams of Nuss/Wait, Sibley/Vossen, and LeVene/Jordan Schenck have all teamed up for a pair of victories this season. … LeVene/Schenck are unbeaten (2-0) at No., 4 doubles. … UST has used seven different doubles combinations through five matches. … As a team, St. Thomas is 17-13 in singles play, while going 7-8 in doubles.
