WINONA, Minn. — The post-season spotlight shined brightly on the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams Monday.
Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.)—who will be competing in both the long jump and triple jump at this weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in La Crosse, Wis.—
Maria Missurelli (Franklin, Wis.), and
Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) were among those named All-Region for the outdoor track and field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-three relays teams. The regions used for this award—Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West—match those used during the cross country season.
Dup—who was named All-Region in both the long jump (5.53m) and triple jump (11.74m) during the 2018 indoor season—equaled that All-Region feat in the outdoor season, boasting school records in both the long jump (5.74m) and the triple jump (11.83m).
Missurelli, who collected her first conference pole vault title at the 2018 MIAC Outdoor Championships—captured her second All-Region selection of the 2018 season, thanks to a school-record vault of 3.62 meters, while O'Hare rewrote the school record in the steeplechase, posting an All-Region time of 9:24.29.
On the men's side, a total of 743 athletes from 192 programs earned 948 All-Region honors. Five programs had 19 or more All-Region selections, with George Fox leading the way with 23 out of the West Region. Rowan was close behind with 22 out of the Atlantic Region, followed by North Central (Ill.) with 20 in the Midwest Region, while Christopher Newport and Mount Union each had 19 in the South/Southeast Region and Great Lakes Region, respectively.
On the women's side, a total of 667 athletes from 184 programs earned 940 All-Region honors. Seven programs had 19 or more All-Region selections with SUNY Geneseoleading the way with 23 out of the Atlantic Region. Nebraska Wesleyan and Williamswere close behind with 22 each out of the Central Region and New England Region, respectively. UW-Eau Claire had 21 out of the Midwest Region, followed by Emory with 20 out of the South/Southeast Region. George Fox and Whitworth, both of the West Region, had 19 each.
