GELENA, Ill. – Joe Abdo (Edina, Minn.) carded a three-over-par 75 and Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) added a four-over 76 to lead the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team to an eighth-place showing after the opening day of the 32-team Midwest Region Classic Friday afternoon.
 
Along with Abdo's team-best 75 and Galewski's 76, the Cardinals also got 82s from Tyler Dove (Hudson, Wis.) and Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.), and an 83 from Blair Sanders (Kansas City, Mo.).
 
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, returning to Eagle Ridge Resort Golf Course for the second round of the Midwest Region Classic.
