MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota volleyball team.
Â
After opening with a pair of losses to Bethel and Augsburg, the Cardinals rebounded with an impressive 3-1 win over St. Catherine last Saturday, only to drop a 3-0 decision to Saint Benedict on Friday evening — leaving the Cardinals in dire need of a bounce-back performance against Concordia Saturday afternoon.
Â
Unfortunately, Concordia didn't get the message, as the Cobbers dealt the Cardinals their second loss of the weekend, handing Saint Mary's a 3-0 — 25-21, 25-16, 27-15 setback at Memorial Auditorium.
Â
Brandi Blattner (Eyota, Minn.) — who became the Cardinals' 13
th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills on Friday — notched a team-best five kills against Concordia, while
Lillian Braun (Mantorville, Minn.) delivered 27 assists and Â
DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) finished with a team-high 24 digs.
Â
The Cardinals are back on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Menomonie, Wis., for a 7 p.m. nonconference match against UW-Stout.
