SARTELL, Minn. — If this weekend's showing at the Saint John's Invitational is any indication, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota's
Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) is in tip-top form heading into next weekend's season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championships.
The Cardinal senior was good in Saturday's opening round of the Saint John's Invitational — and he was even better in Sunday's final round.
Brodt opened the 36-hole tournament with a four-over-par 76, and followed that up with a one-over 73 and a 149 total — leading the Cardinals to a 13th-place finish in the team standings.
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) also put together a solid second round, shooting a five-over 77 for a 158 total, while
Jake Emeott ( / 82-88—170) and
Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia / 90-88—178) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup.
Saint John's captured the team title, finishing with a 586 (290-296), for a seven-shot win over Gustavus (294-299—593), followed by Concordia (306-296—602), St. Thomas (305-298—603), and Augsburg (295-309—604).
Gustavus' Max Ullan (74-70—144) and Saint John's Matt Lutz (72-72—144) shared medalist honors, with Ben Hauge of Gustavus (73-72—145), Concordia's Blake Kahlbaugh (76-69—145), and David Schneider of SJU (73-73—146) and University of Manitoba's Devon Schade (75-71—146) rounding out the top six.
The Cardinals close out the fall portion of their schedule next weekend, heading to Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan, Minn., to take part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championshps.
