PELLA, Iowa — After a scoreless stalemate through the game's opening 45 minutes, it appeared like the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's soccer team's nonconference game against Central-Iowa would come down to which team blinked first.
Unfortunately for coach
Corbin Bowers, it was his Cardinals who blinked — and blinked, and blinked.
Central erupted for three second-half goals in a 13-minute span midway through the game's final 45 minutes in dealing the Cardinals their first loss of the season, 3-0.
Central's Logan Serbousek broke the scoreless tie in the 64
th minute, with Tony Cervelli and Nathan Casas adding back-to-back goals a minute apart just 12 minutes later to put the game out of reach.
Alberto Centeno (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) finished with three saves in goal for the Cardinals, while Dutch goalkeeper Sal Salado-Herrera stopped the Saint Mary's lone shot on goal.
The Cardinals (3-1-0 overall) kick off Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, hosting St. Thomas in a 4 p.m. contest at Ochrymowycz Field.
