WINONA, Minn. — After a weekend performance at the Hamline Invitational last weekend the Saint Mary's swim teams returned hom Friday evening for a pair of dual meets against St. Norbert.

And the Green Knights were anything but hospitable guests — dealing the Cardinal women a 130-67 setback and handing the Saint Mary's men a 164-24 defeat at the Jul Gernes Pool.

Mara Caples (Rochester, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal women, posting a first-place showing in the 100 backstroke (1:06.18), while adding third-place efforts in both the 200 IM (2:28.25) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.11). Katie Domack (Lakeville, Minn.) also put together a first-place performance for the Cardinals, winning the 100 butterfly in 1:05.39

Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) had her three-meet unbeaten streak snapped in the 500 and 1000 freestyles, finishing second in both events with times of 5:53.54 in the 500 and 11:59.90 in the 1000. Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.) notched a second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.95) and a third in the 200 freestyle (2:13.53), with Olivia Fleming (Hugo, Minn. / 100 backstroke, 1:08.97) and Claire Kling (Red Wing, Minn. / 500 freestyle, 6:05.99) each adding third-place times.

Brennan McClay (Shakopee, Minn.) delivered a pair of second-place times — 1:56.43 in the 200 freestyle and 49.67 in the 100 freestyle — and
Casey Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn.) posted a third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.59) to lead the way for the Cardinal men.

The Cardinal women are right back in the water on Saturday afternoon, squaring off against Southwest Minnesota State in a 12:30 p.m. dual. Both teams are then off until Nov. 16, when they head to St. Paul, Minn., to take part in duals against Macalester and Gustavus.
