ST. PAUL, Minn. —Â
Brennen McClay (Shakopee, Minn.) has been the Saint Mary's University men's swim team's top performer all season — and Saturday was no different.
Â
McClay posted the team's top two performances — a pair of second-place efforts — in the Cardinals' dual-meet losses to Macalester and Gustavus.
Â
McClay clocked second-place times of 22.96 in the 50 freestyle and 49.80 in the 100 freestyle to lead the Cardinal men, while
Casey Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn.) chipped in a fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:49.19) and a fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:13.93).
Â
Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) delivered third-place performances in the 400 IM (5:17.88) and 500 freestyle (5:49.53), while also posting a fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:46.81).
Â
Katie Domack (Lakeville, Minn.), Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.), and Mara Caples (Rochester, Minn.) chipped in fourth-place performances in the 200 butterfly (2:37.20), 100 freestyle (1:00.64), and 200 backstroke (2:25.52) respectively, with Dakota Becerra (Yorba Linda, Calif. / 1,000 freestyle, 13:53.09), Ashlyn Seifert (Austin, Texas / 200 freestyle / 2:15.85), and Caples (50 freestyle, 26.88) each adding five-place showings.
Â
The Cardinals return home to the Jul Gernes Pool next weekend, hosting UM-Morris in a nonconference dual on Friday, before squaring off against Ripon in a dual meet on Saturday.
