LA CROSSE, Wis. āĀ After having two of their first three meets cancelled due to snow and frigid temperatures, the Saint Mary's University track and field teams were finally back on the track Friday ā under pristine conditions.
Ā
And the Cardinals made the most of it.
Ā
Kyle Lichttenegger, who set the school record in the 100 in his first outdoor appearance of the season at UW-L's Ashton May Invitational two weeks ago, nearly broke it again, placing fifth with a time of 10.88.
Ā
Lichttenegger was not about to leave Friday's event without a school record, however, as he teamed with Noah Anderson, Matthew Boone, and
Desmond Steward to rewrite the 10-year-old school mark in the 4x100, breaking the tape in 42.10 to place second overall.
Ā
And that wasn't all for the Cardinal junior, as Lichttenegger also placed seventh in the 200, stopping the clock in 22.17, while Steward added an 11th in the long jump with a leap of 6.55 meters.
Ā
David Kemper also put together a memorable performance Friday, clearing 4.71meters to place third in the pole vault.
Ā
Other top performances on the men's side included
Tanner Moris (17:15.55 in the 5000), Boone (11.29 in the 100), Jacob Hanson in the hammer throw (39.32m), and
Tyler Amy (23.30m in the shot put).
Ā
On the women's side,
Rachel Ohde led the Cardinals' charge, placing sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters, while Sydney Klauser broke the tape in 12.76 in the 100, and
Danielle Franke posted a time of 12.33.63 in the steeplechase.
Ā
Saint Mary's is back in action next Saturday, returning home to the Saint Mary's Track & Field Complex for the Saint Mary's Invitational.
