ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's track and field teams return action on Wednesday, as the Cardinal men head to the University of Minnesota's U of M Twilight, while the women take part in St. Thomas' Tommie Twlight.

Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn.) shattered the 14-year-old school mark in the high jump at the Saint Mary's Open, clearing 2.02 meters — easily besting the old mark, set of 1.97m, set by Rob Friendt in 2005. … Beamer's high jump mark of 2.02m leaves him sitting 21st in all of NCAA Division III. … The Saint Mary's men's 4x100 relay team was also in record-setting form at the Saint Mary's Open, as
Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.), Noah Anderson,
Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.), and
Desmond Steward (Milwaukee, Wis.) broke their own program record with a time of 42.03. … Anderson (200, 22.10), Lichttenegger (long jump, 6.55m),
David Kemper (Woodbury, Minn. / pole vault, 4.71m), and
Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn. / steeplechase, 10:36.56) all chipped in second-place efforts for the Cardinal men at the Saint Mary's Open. …
Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal women at the Saint Mary's Open, placing first in the steeplechase with a time of 12.27.25, while
Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) was second in the high jump (1.63m). … Kemper cleared 4.71m to place third in the pole vault at the Phil Esten Challenge on April 19, while Ohde placed sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters. … The Cardinals kicked off the outdoor season in style, recording 12 Top-10 finishes at the Ashton May Invitational on April 6. Ohde, who dominated the high jump during the indoor season, picked up right where she left off, winning the high jump at the Ashton May Invitational with a leap of 1.68 meters. … Kemper, Lichttenegger, and Beamer recorded second-place showings at the outdoor season-opening Ashton May Invitational on April 6 — Kemper placing second in the pole vault (4.60 meters), Lichttenegger in the 100 (10.74), and Beamer in the high jump (1.88m). … Lichttenegger's 10.74 time in the 100 was a school record, breaking his own mark, set in 2017 … The Cardinals posted four Top 3, All-MIAC performances at the indoor season-ending MIAC Championships. Ohde cleared 1.65 meters on her first attempt en route to an All-MIAC second-place finish in the high jump, while Steward claimed back-to-back third-place showings in the long jump (6.69m) and triple jump (14.07m), and Kemper closed out his final indoor conference championships with a mark of 4.32m to finish third in the pole vault. … Ohde placed first or second in all seven high jump competitions she was entered in during the 2019 indoor season. … Beamer shattered the Cardinal school record in the indoor high jump at the MIAC Championships, clearing 1.96 meters in winning the event as part of the men's heptathlon. Beamer's mark easily broke the old record of 1.91m, set during the 2005 indoor season. … Lichttenegger shattered the school record in the indoor 200 — clocking a time of 22.60 — at the MIAC Championships. … Kemper broke the 14-year-old school record in the indoor pole vault — clearing 4.61 meters — at the St. Thomas Showcase on Feb. 8. The Cardinals garnered six first-place finishes — and one meet record — at the Luther Alumni Meet on Feb. 2. Ohde led the way for the Cardinals, winning the women's high jump with a meet-record 1.62-meter leap. … The Cardinals boasted 10 first-place finishes at the indoor season-opening Early Birdinal.
