PEOSTA, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team had its climbing shoes on Monday morning.

The Cardinals, sitting in sixth place after the opening day of the 36-hole Loras Invitational, shaved eight strokes off their Day 1 score — and climbed two places in the team standings — posting a 308 Monday to place fourth in the 10-team field.

Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.), who opened the tournament with a nine-over-par 80 on Sunday, recorded the Cardinals' best round of the event on Monday, shooting a one-over 72 to place third overall with a 152 36-hole total. Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) followed up his opening-round 80 with a 76 for a 153, while Juan Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) delivered a 79 to go with his Day 1 78 for a 157. Tyler Abdo (Edina, Minn. / 78-84—162), Blair Sanders (Kansas City, Mo. / 90-81—171), and Jake Emeott (Chisago City, Minn. / 96-107—203).

The Cardinals close out the spring portion of their schedule next weekend, heading to their home court — The Bridges — to host the 36-hole Saint Mary's Invitational.
