WINONA, Minn. — Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) could not have picked a more memorable way to kick off his senior season as a member of the Saint Mary's University men's golf.

Galewski shattered a pair of school records — and helped the Cardinals rewrite the team record books as well — en route to earning medalist honors at the UW-Superior/St. Scholastica Twin-Ports Collegiate last weekend.

And Monday afternoon, the Cardinal senior added another "first" to his resume, earning his first collegiate Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honor, the league office announced.

Galewski kicked off the 36-hole Twin Ports Collegiate with a three-over-par 74, leaving him one shot off the lead heading into Saturday's final round.

And what a final round it proved to be.

Galewski carded a school-record six-under-par 65 for a program-best 139 36-hole total — and a nine stroke victory over UW-Superior's Sam Albrecht.

 Galewski's record-setting second-day 65 — which included eight birdies and a double bogey — helped the Cardinals to a school-record 280 final-round team total and a second-place finish in the eight-team field.

Galewski and the Cardinals are back in action on Sunday and Monday, taking part in the 36-hole UW-Eau Claire Invitational.
