WINONA, Minn. — It's Monday morning, and time to take one final look back at all the Cardinal highlights from a week ago — by the numbers.
1: The Saint Mary's men's soccer team's 5-2 loss to Simpson last Wednesday marked the first time this season the outcome was not decided by shutout. The Cardinals opened the season with a 5-0 win over Marian, and followed that up with a 4-0 loss to Loras, a 2-0 win over Edgewood, a 1-0 loss to Central-Iowa, a 9-0 win over North Central, and a 2-0 setback at the hands of Gustavus.
1 + 1: Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.) had a hand in both of the Cardinal women's soccer team's goals in Saint Mary's 2-0 win over UW-Stout last Wednesday, assisting on
Kassie Arriaga's second-half goal, before netting her team-leading seventh goal of the season 17 minutes later.
2: Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) scored both of the Saint Mary's men's soccer team's goals in last Wednesday's loss to Simpson — it was the sophomore's first collegiate multiple-goal game and he became the fourth Cardinal to score two goals in a game this season, joining
Josh Balsiger (Camas, Wash.),
Jacob Clements (Holmen, Wis.), and
Garrett Jackson (West Linn, Ore.).
2: Brandon Johnson (St. James, Minn.) picked up a pair of singles wins to lead the way for the Cardinal men's tennis team at last weekend's ITA Midwest Regional and Midwest Open, held in St. Peter, Minn.
2: Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) and
Daynalyn Jostock (Millville, Minn.) both represented the Cardinal volleyball team on the Augustana Viking Classic All-Tournament Team last weekend. Wallis finished with 41 kills, while Jostock chipped in 40 kills and a team-best .341 attack percentage.
3: The Cardinal men's golf team's top four individuals were all within three shots of each other after the opening round of the MSOE Invitational last Sunday.
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.) turned in Saint Mary's low round of the day, shooting a seven-over 78, one shot in front of Craiger and
Alex Allen (Monticello, Minn.), while
Blair Sanders (Kansas City, Mo.) rounded out the top four with an 81.
4: With their 2-0 victory over UW-Stout last Wednesday, the Cardinal women's soccer team has recorded shutouts in four of their five wins this season.
4: The Cardinal men's soccer team's four goals in last Saturday's 4-3 victory over Augsburg — coming from
Jacob Clements (Holmen, Wis.),
Josh Balsiger (Camas, Wash.),
Armin Jasenac (Brooklyn Center, Minn.), and
Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) — were the most in a one-goal win since beating Cal State-East Bay 4-3 on Oct. 28, 2005.
4, 11: Gabriella Pederson (Chaska, Minn.) picked up her fourth shutout of the season — and 11th of her collegiate career — with a three-save effort in the Saint Mary's women's soccer team's 2-0 win over UW-Stout last Wednesday.
6: With their two wins at the Augustana Viking Classic last weekend, six of the Saint Mary's volleyball team's last nine victories have been 3-1 decisions.
12: Jimmy Perreault (Batavia, Ill.), who made a then-career-high six saves against Simpson last Wednesday, doubled that performance against Augsburg last Saturday, finishing with 12 saves in leading the Cardinal men's soccer team to a 4-3 overtime win over the Auggies.
12 + 32 + 18 = 3-0: Lexi Barth (Bryon, Minn.) delivered a team-high 12 kills, while
Lillian Braun (Mantorville, Minn.) finished with a team-best 32 assists and
DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) added a team-leading 18 digs in the Cardinal volleyball team's 3-0 conference win over Macalester last Wednesday.
13: The Saint Mary's men's soccer team snapped a 13-game losing streak against Augsburg last Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal off the foot of

18: Daynalyn Jostock (Millville, Minn.) recorded a career-best 18 kills in Saint Mary's 3-1 win over Augustana last Saturday.
53: With her 53-assist effort in the Cardinal volleyball team's 3-1 win over Coe last Friday,
Lillian Braun (Mantorville, Minn.) has now eclipsed the 50-assist barrier three this season. Along with her 53 helpers against Coe, the senior also dished out 52 assists against Marian on Sept. 13 and delivered a season-high 54 against UW-Superior on Aug. 30.
90, 94: Celeste Van Klein (Lake City, Minn.) and
Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) carded the Cardinal women's golf team's two low rounds through the first two days of the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Van Klein posted an opening-round 90, while Massimo delivered a second-round 94.
