WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team bounced back in impressive fashion Saturday evening.
The Cardinals, coming off a 7-2 conference loss to St. Thomas earlier in the day, rebounded with a dominating performance in its nonconference matchup against the University of Dubuque — dropping just eight games in rolling to a 9-0 win over the Spartans at the Winona Tennis Center.
"It was a great way to finish the day," said Saint Mary's coach

The doubles teams of
Brandon Kurilla (Hastings, Minn./
Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) and
Robbie Sobczak (Cloquet, Minn.)/
Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.) got the Cardinals off and running, rolling to 8-0 and 8-1 victories, respectively. Saint Mary's won the third doubles match by forfeit to grab a quick 3-0 advantage.
And as good as they were in doubles, the Cardinals were even more impressive in singles, as
Trevor Smiley, Graves, and
Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) all cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Kurilla added a 6-0, 6-1 win and Sobczak posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Saint Mary's other win, at No. 6 singles, came via forfeit.
The Cardinals (5-3 overall) are back in action with a pair of home matches next weekend at the Winona Tennis Center. Saint Mary's will host Macalester in a 7 p.m. conference contest on Friday, before entertaining Loras in a 3:30 p.m. contest on Sunday.
