WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University men's soccer coach
Corbin Bowers must have had a severe case of déjà vu following Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Concordia.
Â
After all, the Cardinal head coach was certainly aware of the fact that the Cobbers' Telvin Vah had scored both of CC's goals in its most recent outing — a 2-1 upset win over Saint John's on Wednesday.
Â
And Saturday afternoon, Bowers and the Cardinals witnessed first-hand just how lethal the Cobber sophomore can be.
Â
For the second game in a row, Vah scored both of the Cobbers' goals — and goalkeeper Erick Torres stopped all six SMU shots on goal — as Concordia handed Saint Mary's a 2-0 conference setback at Ochrymowycz Field.
Â
Vah struck early in the first half, scoring his sixth goal of the season in the 22nd minute, before sealing the Concordia victory with goal No. 7 on the year with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
Â
Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) was one busy man between the pipes for the Cardinals, stopping 11 of the Cobbers' 13 shots on goal — five in the first half and six in the second.
Â
The Cardinals (0-5-0 MIAC, 3-7-0 overall) are back in action on Wednesday, when they step out of conference play — traveling to Ripon, Wis., for a 3:30 p.m. showdown with Ripon.
