Liverance netted the SMU men’s first goal at 13:52 of the first period against Lake Forest, while Simonson found the back of the net at 8:37 of the Cardinal women’s game against St. Norbert.
• 1: Jacob Clements (Holmen, Wis.) scored his first goal of the season in the 13th minute to lift the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team to a 1-1, double-overtime draw against MIAC Tournament-qualifier Macalester last Tuesday.
• 1 x 3: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s three goals in last Friday’s 4-3, overtime loss to Lake Forest came from three different players — Tyson Liverance (Burford, Ontario), Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta), and Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.).
• 3: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team finished third in the final regular-season standings with a 7-3-1 overall record and earned the No. 3 seed for the MIAC Tournament. The Cardinals, making their first-ever conference tournament appearance, host St. Scholastica at 6 p.m. Monday night.
• 3: Three of the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s four goals in last Friday’s season-opening 4-1 win over St. Norbert came from freshmen. Jenna Kurkowski (North Branch, Minn.) scored twice and Anna Braun (Mantorville, Minn.) netted another for the Cardinals.
• 3: The Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 1-1 tie with Macalester last Tuesday was their second straight double-overtime tie — having also battled Hamline to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 23 — and their third straight double-overtime game. SMU fell to Bethel 1-0 in 2 OTs on Oct. 16.
• 9: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team had nine freshmen in its lineup for last Friday’s season-opening 4-1 win over St. Norbert.
• 9, 10: Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.) scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season in leading the Cardinal women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Macalester last Wednesday. The junior followed that up by scoring SMU’s lone goal in the Cardinals’ 2-1 loss to St. Scholastica two days later. Falkman’s 10 goals are not only a team-high, but also second-most among MIAC players.
• 11: Saint Mary’s 1-0 win over Macalester and 2-1 loss to St. Scholastica last week marked the 10th and 11th time in the last 12 outings that the game has been decided by one goal or less — the lone exception, SMU’s 3-1 win over St. Olaf on Oct. 12.
• 12: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) recorded a team-high 12 kills in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-0 loss to St. Olaf last Wednesday.
• 12: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) equaled his single-game career high with 12 saves in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 1-1, 2 OT deadlock against Macalester last Tuesday. The sophomore also recorded 12 saves in the team’s first meeting with UW-Eau Claire on Sept. 26 and reached double-digits in saves three times this year, adding a 10-save effort against Concordia on Oct. 2.
• 18: With her 12 kills against Gustavus in the Cardinal volleyball team’s season-finale against No. 25 last Saturday, McNally recorded at least 10 kills 18 times this season — including five matches of 20 of more kills — and closed out the season with a team-best 332 kills.
• 21 / 50: Eli Szymanski’s (La Crosse, Wis.) team-high seven goals for the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team this season give the Cardinal senior 21 for his four-year collegiate career, ranking the senior tied for fourth all-time. Szymanski’s 50 career points have him sitting seventh all-time.
• 25:25: Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) posted a career-best 6K time of 25:25 to lead the SMU women to an 11th-place finish at the MIAC Championships last Saturday.
• 28: A.J. Ruskowski (Traverse City, Mich.) made 28 saves in his collegiate debut in goal for the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team in last Friday’s 4-3, overtime loss to Lake Forest.
• 28:10: Isaiah Brindamour (Hinckley, Minn.) stopped the clock with an 8K time of 28:10 to lead the way for the three-man Saint Mary’s men’s squad at last Saturday’s MIAC Championships.
• 33: Matt Sankner (Pennington, N.J.) made his collegiate debut in goal for the SMU men’s hockey team Saturday, stopping 33 of the 35 shots he faced in the Cardinals’ 3-0 loss to Lake Forest.
• 106: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Minn.) stopped nine shots in the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team’s 1-0 loss to UW-Eau Claire in its season-finale last Saturday, giving the sophomore a league-leading 106 saves this season.
• 388: DeJaye Baab recorded 12 digs in her final match for the Saint Mary’s women’s volleyball team last Saturday, giving the senior 388 digs for the season and 1,536 digs for her four-year career, ranking her No. 3 all-time.
