• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals enter Saturday’s conference-opener against Macalester sitting at 1-1 on the season, having dropped a 73-59, season-opening decision at UW-Stevens Point on Nov. Nov. 9, before rebounding with an 80-74 win over Martin Luther on Monday.

• AGAINST THE KNGHTS: The Cardinals put four players in double figures — led by Jada Biermeier (Eau Claire, Wis.) with 19 and Ashley Streveler (Colby, Wis.) with 18 — en route to an 80-74 win over Martin Luther on Monday.

• ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday’s game at Macalester is the third straight road game for the Cardinals, who will follow up their matchup against the Scots with back-to-back home games against Hamline (Tuesday) and Luther (Nov. 28).

• CAREER NIGHTS: Saint Mary’s had four players record a career-high 10 or more points in its 80-74 win over Martin Luther on Monday. Biermeier led the charge with a career-best 19 points, one more than Streveler’s career-high 18. Valerie Higgins (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Alyssa Coleman (Matteson, Ill.) chipped in their best nights as Cardinals with 13 and 12 points, respectively. … Saint Mary’s now boasts five players who have recorded a career-best 10 or more points in a game. Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn.) netted a career-high 10 points against UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 9.

• RAINING IN POINTS: The Cardinals’ 80-point effort against Martin Luther on Monday was its top offensive performance since scoring 85 points an 87-85 overtime loss to Hamline on Jan. 11, 2020.

• LEADING THE CHARGE: Biermeier enters Saturday’s matchup against Macalester leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 ppg. Streveler and Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) are also averaging in double figures at 11.5 ppg each. … Paulson scored a team-leading 18 points in SMU’s season-opening loss to UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 9.

• HITTING THE BOARDS: Paulson is the team’s leader in rebounds with 15 (7.0 rpg), two more than Biermeier (6.0 rpg). … Biermeier and Paulson each hauled in a team- and season-high nine rebounds in Monday’s 80-74 win over Martin Luther.

• FROM DOWNTOWN: The Cardinals rained in eight 3-pointers against Martin Luther on Monday, led by Streveler with four and Coleman with three. … Saint Mary’s owns 11 3-pointers in two games this season and is shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (11-for-33).

• DOUBLING UP: Paulson is the only player on the Cardinal roster to own a double-double in her collegiate career, recording her first against Hamline on Feb. 27, 2021, scoring 13 points and adding a career-high 11 rebounds.

• FREE POINTS: Biermeier knocked down a season- and career-high 10 free throws on 12 attempts against Martin Luther on Monday. The 10 made free throws were the most by a Cardinal since Shayley Vesel went 10-for-13 from the charity stripe against Augsburg on Feb. 5, 2020. … Saint Mary’s 28 made free throws against Martin Luther Monday were the most since netting 32 against Bethel on Feb. 27, 2014, while the Cardinals’ 35 free throws attempted were the most since attempting 35 vs. Macalester on Feb. 10, 2018.

• AS A TEAM: The Cardinals are shooting 41.0 percent from the field (41-for-100), with three 11-pointers, and are 45 of 65 (69.2 percent) from the free throw line. SMU is averaging 69.0 ppg, while the Cardinals’ opponents are scoring at a 73.5 ppg clip.

• CARDINAL DEBUTS: Six of the 11 Cardinals who took the court against UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 9 were making their first collegiate appearances in a Saint Mary’s uniform. Goettelman led the “newcomers” charge, tossing in 10 points.

• DOUBLING UP: Sabbagh recorded her first double-double of the season against Martin Luther on Nov. 5, scoring 12 points and adding a season-high 11 rebounds.

• LENDING A HAND: Sabbagh has dished out a team-leading six assists through two games, one more than LaFrenz and Salana Cushing, while Katherine Norquist owns four helpers.

• STEALING THE SHOW: LaFrenz has amassed a team-best five steals, one in front of both Palmen and Sabbagh, and two up on Cushing.
