WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University's
Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) made quite an impression during the Cardinal men's basketball team's two games at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.
Â
And while Las Vegas is known for the slogan, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," it's a pretty safe bet that UW-Superior and Mary Hardin-Baylor — and the rest of the Classic field — will be taking home visions of Anthony's stellar performances.
Â
Anthony averaged 16.0 points-per-game, 10.0 rebounds-per-game and 6.0 assists-per-game in the Cardinals' two contests — an 83-78 win over UW-Superior and an 84-64 loss to No. 19 Mary Hardin-Baylor — and was named to the D3hoops.com Classic nine-person All-Tournament Team.
Â
The junior kicked off tournament play in stellar fashion, scoring 22 points, adding 14 rebounds and dishing out nine assists in SMU's win over UW-Superior. The double-double was Anthony's second of the season and sixth of his collegiate career, while missing out on the Cardinals' first triple-double in three decades by one helper.
Â
Anthony closed out SMU's two-game stay in Las Vegas by scoring 10 points, leading the team with six rebounds and adding three assists in the Cardinals' loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Â
Saint Mary's (4-5 overall) is back in action on Monday, when the Cardinals host Crown in a 3 p.m. nonconference game at the Saint Mary's Gym.
