  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals pushed their season-opening winning streak to three last Saturday, beating Concordia 3-1. … The Cardinals are 3-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2001-02 season. The last time Saint Mary's opened the season 4-0 was in 1972-73, when the Cardinals won their first 11 straight. … Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.) had a hand in all three Cardinal goals in last Saturday's 3-1 win over Concordia. The freshman scored his first two collegiate goals and assisted on the other. … Winter's two-goal game against Concordia last Saturday is the first multiple-goal game of the year for the Cardinals, who had seven players record multiple-goal games a year ago. … Winter is the third SMU player to net his first goal in a Cardinal uniform this season, being joined by Andrew Froese (Traverse City, Mich.) and Trevor Schroeder (Des Moines, Iowa). … Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta) and Tommy Stang (Mendota Heights, Minn.) each picked up two assists vs. the Cobbers last Saturday. … Winter and Schroeder have each posted three-point games this season and share the team lead in points (3) with Froese, Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ill.), Stang, and Stoynich. … Winter and Thomas Magnavite (Chicago, Ill.) own a team-best two goals, with SMU's other eight goals comes from eight different players. … Winter, Sam Hanson (Eau Claire, Wis.), and Jack Hatton (Naperville, Ill.) own Saint Mary's three game-winning goals. … Al Rogers (North Haven, Conn.) stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced in last Saturday's win over Concordia. … Rogers heads into Saturday's matchup against Hamline owning a 2.00 goals-against-average and .935 save percentage in two starts. … Rogers has stopped 30 or more shots five times in his collegiate career. … Connor Close (Des Moines, Iowa) stopped 33 Bethel shots in his first collegiate start in goal for the Cardinals on Feb. 2. … Seven of the Cardinals' 12 goals this season — including all three against Concordia last Saturday — have been scored in the second period. SMU has netted just one first-period goal through three games. … Saint Mary's has scored the game's first goal in all three contests this season. … With their two one-goal wins to open the season (4-3 over Gustavus and 5-4 vs. Bethel), Saint Mary's has played 22 games decided by one goal or less — including 11 that went into overtime — in its last 55 games.
  GUSTAVUS GUSTIES SCOUTING REPORT
The Gusties have not played since Jan. 30, when they dropped their second straight to open the season, falling to Saint Mary's 4-3. … Tuesday's game against Saint Mary's is the first of three straight home games for the Gusties, who finished 5-5-3 at Don Roberts Ice Arena a year ago. … The Gusties' five goals this season have come from five different players — Caleb Anderson, Tyler Ebner, Nick Klishko, Logan Norman, Dan Sandvig. … Anderson also has an assist, while the other four assists have come from Will LeNeave, Nick Mueller, Tyler Rock, and Toby Sengvongxay. … Robbie Goor and Justin Damon have each seen time between the pipes for the Gusties this season. Goor stopped 23 of the 30 shots he faced in GAC's 7-2 loss to Augsburg on Jan. 29, while Damon made 12 saves on 20 shots in the Gusties' 4-3 loss to Saint Mary's on Jan. 30. … Gustavus has surrendered the game's first goal in both of its contests this season. … GAC has scored three of its five goals in the second period, while the Gusties' opponents have tallied six of their 11 goals in the game's final 20 minutes.
