SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT

Wednesday's game at Gustavus was the third straight road game for the Cardinals. … Saint Mary's 61-60 loss to Gustavus Wednesday snapped the Cardinals' five-game winning streak. It was the longest winning streak since winning six in a row as part of an 8-1 start to the 2010-11 season. … Caden Freetly (Farmington, Minn.) equaled his single-game career high with 21 points against Gustavus Wednesday. … Freetly's 21 points marked the seventh straight game this season in which the Cardinals have had at least one player score 20 or more points. SMU achieved that feat in 19 of 27 games a year ago. … The Cardinals have had two players score 20 or more points in the same game twice this season — Eli Cave (St. Paul, Minn.) tossed in 27 points and Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) finished with 20 points against Saint John's on Jan. 29, while Anthony scored 25 and Cave chipped in 22 against Hamline on Feb. 1. … Saint Mary's has put four players in double figures in the same game twice this season. … Cave was held to seven points against Gustavus on Wednesday, snapping a streak of 33 straight games in which the senior had scored in double figures. Cave has netted 10 or more points in 57 of 59 games over the last three seasons — and has netted 20 or more points 28 times in his collegiate career. … With his seven points against Gustavus Wednesday, Cave — the reigning MIAC Athlete of the Week — pushed his career point total to 1,267 career points, ranking the senior 12th all-time. Next up for Cave: Bill Skemp '55 (1,268) and Tom Pepper '74 (1,281). … Cave scored 18 points and added 10 rebounds against Augsburg Monday in recording his first double-double of the season and eighth of his Cardinal career. … Anthony — who scored 13 points against Gustavus Wednesday — picked up his second double-double of the season, and fourth of his collegiate career, with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Bethel on Feb. 17. … Zach Kjeseth's (Wabasha, Minn.) 12 points against Bethel on Feb. 20 — which all came in the first half — were a season-high. Kjeseth because the second play in as many games to net a career-high of 10 or more points. Nick Falls (Plymouth, Wis.) netted a career-best 10 in SMU's first meeting against Bethel on Feb. 17. … Cave and Anthony both enter Saturday's game against Hamline averaging in double figures at 19.6 ppg each. … Anthony has amassed a team-leading 51 rebounds (7.3 rpg) through seven games, while also leading the Cardinals in assists (23) and steals (24). … As a team, Saint Mary's is shooting 46.0 percent from the field (186-for-404) while going 43-for-82 (52.4 percent) from the free throw line. … The Cardinals have drained 57 3-pointers through seven games, led by Cave with 15, Anthony with 13, and Anthony-Bello with 12. … Saint Mary's, which finished with 10 or more 3-pointers in a game nine times a year ago, knocked down 11 treys against Hamline on Feb. 1 and added 10 vs. Bethel on Feb. 20. … The Cardinals 81 points in Monday's two-point win over Augsburg were a season-high. Saint Mary's netted 80 or more points five times a year ago. … Saint Mary's made its first MIAC Tournament appearance since 1985 a year ago, collecting the program's first postseason victory with its 72-59 quarterfinal win over Bethel on Feb. 25. … Saint Mary's 14 wins a year ago were the most overall wins since going 15-10 during the 1984-85 campaign, while their 10 MIAC victories were the most since going 11-9 during the 1999-2000 season.

HAMLINE PIPERS SCOUTING REPORT

The Pipers' game against Concordia Wednesday was their first since falling to Saint John's on Feb. 6. … HU's 88-74 win over Concordia Wednesday snapped the Pipers' four-game losing streak — dating back to a season-opening, 55-38 win over Bethel on Jan. 30. … Hamline put four players in double figures in Wednesday's win over Concordia, led by Luke Siwek with 23 points on 6 of 12 shooting, including a 3-for-4 effort from behind the 3-point line, and an 8 of 9 effort from the line. … Andrew Jackson chipped in 18 points, with Michael Dillon adding 16 and Marshall Holland finishing with 12. … Siwek enters Saturday's game at Saint Mary's leading the Pipers in scoring with a 16.0 ppg scoring average, while Dillon and Jake Larson are also averaging in double figures at 12.0 ppg and 11.2 ppg. … Dillon is the team's leader in rebounds with 30 (6.0 rpg), while Larson has dished out a team-best 20 assists. … As a team, the Pipers are shooting 42.5 from the field (145-for-341) and 80.0 percent from the free throw line (68-for-85). … The Pipers have drained 41 4-pointers through six games, led by Siwek and Dillon with nine each. … The Pipers are averaging 66.5 ppg, while their opponents are scoring at a 73.5 ppg clip. … Hamline's 88 points in Wednesday's win over Concordia were a season high.
