  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals locked up their second straight MIAC Tournament appearance a year ago — it also marked the 13th conference tournament showing in program history. … Saint Mary's closed out the year winning four of its last six en route to a 10-14-3 overall record. … Saint Mary's 4-1 win over St. Thomas in the MIAC Tournament quarterfinal on Feb. 25 snapped the Cardinals' four-game losing streak against the Tommies — and ended a six-game postseason losing streak, dating back to a 3-1 win over Augsburg on March 1, 2005. … The Cardinals' season-ending 5-1 loss to No. 4 Gustavus marked the eighth time they faced a team ranked in the Top 5 in USCHO.com Poll at the time. It was the most shots on goal since putting 53 on net against Hamline on Feb. 25, 2004. … The Cardinals' 2-2 tie against fourth-ranked and regular-season champion Gustavus on Dec. 6 marked the third straight year in which Saint Mary's and GAC played to an overtime draw — the Cardinals and Gusties tied 1-1 in each of the previous two seasons. … The Cardinals' eight goals against St. Olaf on Feb. 14 were the most since Saint Mary's netted eight in blanking Hamline 8-0 on Feb. 25, 2004. … The Cardinals played five overtime games last season — going 1-1-3. … The Cardinals' 5-2 loss to St. Thomas on Jan. 17 snapped their season-high three-game winning streak and four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1). The Cardinals' three-game winning streak was their longest since the 2015-16 season, while their four-game unbeaten run was the longest since going 3-0-1 during the 2014-15 campaign. … Seventeen of the Cardinals' 27 games last season were decided by two goals or less. Saint Mary's finished 7-7-3 in those 17 contests. … Saint Mary's scored first in 15 of its 27 games, going 6-6-3.   ST. SCHOLASTICA SAINTS SCOUTING REPORT
The Saints kicked off their pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season in impressive fashion, sweeping a home-and-home series against Augsburg, winning 5-3 and 3-0. … The Saints are coming off a 15-10-4 campaign in 2019-20, including a 9-4-3 mark in conference play. … St. Scholastica reached the NCHA Tournament title game a year ago – b eating Aurora (4-1 & 3-1) and Lake Forest (2-0), before falling to ninth-ranked Adrian 4-0 in the championship game. … Allie Bussey scored twice, and Abby Pohlkamp, Ashley Healy, and Kayla Kasel accounted for the other three goals in last Friday's 5-3 win over Augsburg, while Kasel, Rachel Anderson, and Emily Sabol tallied CSS's three goals in the rematch the following day. … Taylor Thompson, Lauryn Hull, and Lily Holtz share the team lead with two assists each. … Lori Huseby was between the pipes in both games against Augsburg last weekend — posting back-to-back 34-save performances. … CSS has scored four of its eight goals this season in the second period. … The 2020-21 season marks the final year in the NCHA for the Saints, who will join Saint Mary's and the rest of the MIAC beginning with the 2021-22 campaign.
