  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Saturday's game at Concordia is the first road contest of the season for the Cardinals, who went 4-9-1 away from the Saint Mary's Ice Arena last season. … The Cardinals enter their conference-opener against Concordia having dropped their season-opener on Wednesday, a 3-1 decision to St. Scholastica. … With last Wednesday's 3-1 loss to St. Scholastica, 18 of the Cardinals' last 28 games last season were decided by two goals or less. … Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.) picked up the Cardinals' lone goal against the Saints. The goal was the junior's second of her collegiate career. … Both Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) and Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) saw action between the pipes against St. Scholastica last Wednesday. Ziakas played the first 30:37, making 17 saves, while Keeley played the final 29:23 and posted 20 saves. … Ziakas recorded a career-high 54 saves in the Cardinals' 3-3 tie with No. 5 Hamline on Feb. 8, 2020. The 54 saves were 10 more than her previous career best — and the most by a Cardinal goalie since Ashley Corcoran stopped 56 Gustavus shots on Feb. 3, 2017. … Ziakas closed out the 2019-20 season boasting a 2.57 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage in 17 appearances. … Keeley stopped a career-high 43 shots against nationally ranked Adrian on Nov. 3, 2019 and compiled a 2.30 goals-against-average and .930 save percentage in 12 appearances a year ago. … The Cardinals locked up their second straight MIAC Tournament appearance a year ago — it also marked the 13th conference tournament showing in program history. … Saint Mary's 4-1 win over St. Thomas in the MIAC Tournament quarterfinal on Feb. 25 snapped the Cardinals' four-game losing streak against the Tommies — and ended a six-game postseason losing streak, dating back to a 3-1 win over Augsburg on March 1, 2005. … The Cardinals' season-ending 5-1 loss to No. 4 Gustavus marked the eighth time they faced a team ranked in the Top 5 in USCHO.com Poll at the time. Saint Mary's also faced No. 5 Hamline (L, 6-1; T, 3-3), No. 3 Adrian (L, 3-2; L, 4-2), No. 5 UW-River Falls (L, 4-1), and No. 4 Gustavus (L, 5-1; T, 2-2). … The Cardinals' 4-3 win over Concordia on Nov. 15, 2019 was the first collegiate coaching win for Cardinal HC Sarah Murray.
  CONCORDIA COBBERS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cobbers enter Saturday's season-opener against Saint Mary's coming off an 8-17-0 campaign in 2019-20, which included a 6-12-0 showing in conference play. … Libby Hinrichs closed out the 2019-20 season as the Cobbers' leader in both goals (6) and points (13). … Amanda Flemming owned a team-best eight assists a year ago. … Hinrichs (13), Flemming (12), and Ally Wiltala (11) were the only Cobbers with 10 or more points last season. … Thirteen of Concordia's 48 goals a year ago came on special teams – CC scored 11 power-play goals and added a pair of shorthanded tallies. … Concordia's seven game-winning goals came from six different players last season. … Kiana Flaig started 22 of the Cobbers' 27 games in goal last season, compiling a 2.90 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage. … Concordia closed out the year 5-3-0 when scoring first, while going 3-14-0 when its opponent scores first. … The Cobbers were unbeaten (4-0-0) when leading after two periods, while going 1-14-0 when their opponent scored first.
