  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Saturday's game against Bethel was the second straight road game for the Cardinals, who played five of their first six contests on their home ice. … In their first meeting three days ago, Bethel erupted for four third-period goals in dealing the Cardinals a 4-1 setback in Blaine, Minn. … The Cardinals picked up their first win of the season with last Thursday's 2-1 victory over Augsburg — snapping their five-game winless streak (0-3-2). … Amber Miller (Kasson, Minn.) netted Saint Mary's lone goal in last Saturday's 4-1 loss to Bethel. … Miller's shorthanded goal against Bethel last Saturday was the Cardinals first since Natalie Ryan netted a shortie against St. Olaf on Feb. 16, 2018 — a span of 50 games. … Kennedy Kraus (Kasson, Minn.) and Kaley Manglitz (Onalaska, Wis.) scored Saint Mary's two goals against Augsburg last Thursday — Kraus's was her first collegiate goal, while Magnlitz's was the game-winner. … The Cardinals have had three players record their first collegiate goals this season — Kennedy Kraus, Katie Devine (Glencoe, Ill.), and Sarah O'Brien (Littleton, Colo.). … Saint Mary's seven goals this season have come from seven different players —Miller, Kennedy Kraus, Devine, O'Brien, Manglitz, Jordan Modjeski (South Lyon, Mich.), and Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.). … Manglitz and Katie Pierpont (Holt, Mich.) lead the team with two assists each, while Manglitz is the team-leader in points with three. … Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) finished with a season-high 38 saves in the Cardinals' 4-1 loss to Bethel last Saturday, marking the third straight game — and fourth time this season — the senior has stopped 30 or more shots in a game. … 
Ziakas boasts a 1.66 goals-against-average and a .952 save percentage. … Ziakas stopped a season-high 35 shots in blanking Concordia for her second collegiate shutout on Feb. 6. … Ziakas recorded a career-high 54 saves in the Cardinals' 3-3 tie with No. 5 Hamline on Feb. 8, 2020. The 54 saves were 10 more than her previous career best — and the most by a Cardinal goalie since Ashley Corcoran stopped 56 Gustavus shots on Feb. 3, 2017. … Saint Mary's has played two overtime games this season — with both games ending in a tie. … Saint Mary's tie with Concordia on Feb. 6 was the Cardinals' first 0-0 deadlock since battling St. Thomas to a scoreless draw on Nov. 15, 2014. …  Saint Mary's 3-0 loss to St. Thomas on Feb. 23 marked the second time this season the Cardinals have failed to score — the other being a 0-0 overtime tie against Concordia on Feb. 6. … Five of the Cardinals' seven games this season have been decided by two goals or less, and 19 of Saint Mary's 31 games since the start of last season have been decided by two goals or less. … Nine of the 15 goals the Cardinals have allowed this season have come in the third period.   BETHEL ROYALS SCOUTING REPORT
After opening the season with back-to-back wins over Concordia-Wis. (1-0) and Gustavus (4-2), the Royals have gone 2-2-1 in their last four — including Monday's 2-2 tie with Augsburg. … Alex Belde and Bri Stafne scored the Royals' two goals in Monday's 2-2 tie against Augsburg. Stafne, the reigning MIAC Athlete of the Week, has now scored four goals in BU's last two games — the senior had a hat trick in the Royals' 4-1 win over Saint Mary's last Saturday. … Stafne, who leads the team in goals with five, has now scored in three straight games. … Belde, Ally Halverson, Grace Halvorson, Julia Mcalpin, and Lexi DeBace are all second to Stafne with two goals each. with Machlitt, Kennedi Mitchell, Emily Roder, and Lindsey Muntifering accounting for the Royals' other four goals. … Roder and Machlitt have collected a team-leading four assists each, while Stafne leads the team with eight points. … Bethel's four game-winning goals have come from four different players — Stafne, DeBace, Halverson, and Mitchell. …
 
Baleigh Shuck and Mallory Tidona have both seen time between the pipes for the Royals. Shuck has compiled a 2.91 goals-against-average and .881 save percentage in four appearances, while Tidona holds a 2.21 GAA and .919 save percentage in four games. … The Royals have scored just one first-period goal this season. BU has netted seven of its 19 goals in the second period and 11 in the game's final 20 minutes. … Bethel is 2-1-0 when scoring first, and is unbeaten (2-0-0) when leading after two periods.
