  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals kicked off their season with a split in their two matches in Moorhead, Minn., last Saturday. Saint Mary's dropped a 3-0 decision to Augsburg in their first match of the day, before rebounding with a 3-1 win over Concordia later in the afternoon. … Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) led the Cardinals in kills in both matches last weekend, posting eight kills vs. Augsburg and adding a career-best 17 vs. Concordia. … Saint Mary's had four players recorded 10 or more kills against Concordia last Saturday. Along with McNally's team-high 17 kills, Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) added 12, and Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.) and Erin Lime (Lino Lakes, Minn.) each delivered 10. … Wallis added 16 digs to her 12 kills against Concordia for her first double-double of the season and sixth of her collegiate career. … DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) finished with 39 digs in the Cardinals' two matches last weekend. With her 39th dig, Baab reached the 1,000 career dig plateau. Baab is the 12th person in program history to reach 1,000 career digs and currently trails Diane Wood (1,062) for No. 11 all-time. … Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) dished out a team-leading 46 assists last weekend, while Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) chipped in 26. The SMU duo accounted for 72 of the team's 80 assists in the two matches. … The Cardinals finished 15-13 a year ago — including a 5-6 showing in conference play. Saint Mary's has now finished 15-13 overall in back-to-back seasons.
  ST. CATHERINE WILDCATS SCOUTING REPORT
Wednesday's match against Saint Mary's is the season-opener for the Wildcats, who are coming off a 14-11 season a year ago, including a 4-7 showing in the MIAC. After winning seven of their first eight matches — including a season-high six-match winning streak — SCU closed out the year 7-10. … The Wildcats closed out 2019 with five players recording 160 or more kills, led by Emma Nelson with 251, Erin Cutts with 211, and Lauren Isaacson with 202. Erin Tebben (162_ and Bryana Leverentz (161) also eclipsed the 160-kill barrier a year ago. … Marissa Gilbertson and Abbi Harker shared the setting duties for the Wildcats last season, with Gilbertson compiling 533 assists and Harker adding 431. … Harker and Cutts shared the team lead with 31 aces in 2019, followed by Nelson with 28 and Grace Amacher with 21. … Amacher amassed a team-best 424 digs, edging out Nelson (410) for the team lead, with Harker (164), Isaacson (164), Gilbertson (144), and Larissa Kisch (105) also notching more than 100 digs last season. … As a team, St. Catherine averaged 12.3 kills, 11.6 assists, and 17.2 digs per set. … Ten of the Wildcats' 14 wins in 2019 were 3-0 sweeps. SCU also had two four-set wins, and a pair of five-set victories. On the flip side, the Wildcats were only swept once in their 10 losses. SCU dropped five four-set matches and lost four contests extended to a fifth set.
