  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals surrendered a pair of second-period goals and another in the third in falling to St. Thomas 3-0 in their last action on Feb. 23. … Thursday's game at Augsburg will be just the second road game for the Cardinals, who have played five of their first six contests this season on their home ice. … Saint Mary's 3-0 loss to St. Thomas on Feb. 23 marked the second time this season the Cardinals have failed to score — the other being a 0-0 overtime tie against Concordia on Feb. 6. … Katie Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) and Sarah O'Brien (Littleton, Colo.) netted SMU's two goals in its 2-2 tie vs. Saint Benedict on Feb. 17. … The goals by Devine and O'Brien against Saint Benedict on Feb. 17 were the first of their collegiate career. … Jordan Modjeski (South Lyon, Mich.) and Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.) own Saint Mary's other two goals this season. … Devine and O'Brien share the team lead in points (2) with Kaley Manglitz (Onalaska, Wis.), who also owns the team lead in assists with two. … Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.), who opened the season with a shutout streak of 105:05 minutes, stopped 31 of the 34 shots she faced against St. Thomas last Tuesday and heads into SMU's rematch against St. Thomas boasting a 1.51 goals-against-average and a .947 save percentage. … Ziakas has now stopped 126 of the 133 shots she's faced this season. … Ziakas' 35-save shutout in the Cardinals' 0-0 tie against Concordia on Feb. 6 was the second of her collegiate career. … Ziakas recorded a career-high 54 saves in the Cardinals' 3-3 tie with No. 5 Hamline on Feb. 8, 2020. The 54 saves were 10 more than her previous career best — and the most by a Cardinal goalie since Ashley Corcoran stopped 56 Gustavus shots on Feb. 3, 2017. … Saint Mary's has now played two overtime games in their first five contests — with both games ending in a tie. … Saint Mary's tie with Concordia on Feb. 6 was the Cardinals' first 0-0 deadlock since battling St. Thomas to a scoreless draw on Nov. 15, 2014. …  Four of the Cardinals' five games this season have been decided by two goals or less, and 18 of Saint Mary's 29 games since the start of last season have been decided by two goals or less. … Five of the 10 goals the Cardinals have allowed this season have come in the third period. On the flip side, Saint Mary's has scored three of its four goals in the game's final 20 minutes. … The Cardinals locked up their second straight MIAC Tournament appearance a year ago — it also marked the 13th conference tournament showing in program history.
  AUGSBURG AUGGIES SCOUTING REPORT
Thursday's game against Saint Mary's is the second game in as many nights for the Auggies, who are in the midst of playing four games in a six-day span. … The Auggies head into Thursday's showdown against Saint Mary's on the heels of a 7-3 win over Bethel on Wednesday. … Augsburg's 7-3 win over Bethel Wednesday snapped its season-opening five-game winless streak. … The Auggies' seven-goal effort against Bethel Wednesday was their highest single-game output since Jan. 4, 2020, when they netted 10 in a 10-0 victory over Marian. … Augsburg's seven goals vs. Bethel were also one more than the Auggies had scored in their first five games combined. … Lilla Scheid scored three of Augsburg's seven goals against Bethel Wednesday, while Jenna Gerold, Julianna Teske, McKenna Ellena, and Kensie Malone accounted for the other four Auggie tallies. … Scheid's hat trick vs. Bethel moved her into the team lead in goals with three, one more than both Ellena and Gerold. … Malone owns a team-leading four assists, and shares the team lead in points (5) with Scheid. … Augsburg has used three different goalies this year. Mara McClain boasts a 2.64 goals-against-average and .884 save percentage in 181 minutes, while Chloe Stockinger has compiled a 3.33 GAA and .889 save percentage in 153 minutes. Abby Bollig (3.55 GAA, .857 save percentage) has also made an appearance between the pipes. … Stockinger made 29 saves in beating Bethel Wednesday. … The Auggies have outscored their opponents 5-3 in the third period, but have been outscored 4-2 in the first and 11-6 in the second. … Augsburg has scored first just once in its first six games.
