WINONA, Minn. —
DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) entered this fall-to-spring season after earning her first All-MIAC First-Team honor during her sophomore campaign in 2019.
And when it came to achieving "firsts," the Cardinal libero picked up right where she left off.
First up, collecting her 1,000th career dig during the Saint Mary's University volleyball team's 3-1 win over Concordia on March 27.
And Monday, Baab was able to check another first off her collegiate list — first MIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Baab was instrumental in the Cardinals' second straight 3-2 win of the season last Wednesday, posting 24 digs and adding a pair of assists in SMU's come-from-behind victory over Bethel.
In four matches this season, Baab has amassed a team-high 86 digs — including a season-high 30 against Concordia on March 27 and last Wednesday's 24-dig effort against Bethel.
Baab and the Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday, playing host to Hamline in a 7 p.m. conference match at the Saint Mary's Gym.
